Kennedy 48, Verdugo Hills 26--Tamaya Morris scored 20 points to lead the Golden Cougars (6-7) to the consolation championship of the Roosevelt tournament. Akane Maruyama also scored nine points and added seven steals for Kennedy.
Monroe 61, San Fernando 14--Mirna Martinez scored 21 points for the Vikings (3-2) in a consolation game at the Fairfax tournament.
The Tigers (1-10) committed 21 turnovers.
BOYS
Saugus 70, Buena 67--Major Sherard, who finished with 22 points, made two free throws with one second remaining in regulation to lead the Centurions (7-5) into overtime in a Ventura tournament consolation game.
Taft 61, Cleveland 58--Victor Purnell scored 21 points and made a critical steal for the Toreadors (4-5) in the final minute of the Eagle Rock tournament game.
Kennedy 63, Grant 59--Clayton Powdrill scored 18 points to lead the Golden Cougars (8-3) in the Birmingham tournament. Donald Patterson scored 29 points and had 13 rebounds for Grant.
Compton 78, Santa Clara 53--Lukman Dotson scored 16 points and Adam Lopez added 14, but the Saints (8-4) lost a consolation game of the Orange tournament.
Montclair Prep 72, La Salle 55--Anwan Jones scored 30 points and grabbed 16 rebounds as the Mounties (11-3) won the consolation championship of the La Salle tournament. Montclair Prep’s Scott Stark scored 10 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter.
Torrance 63, Village Christian 55--Tim Gustafson scored 14 points and Aaron Kendrick added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Crusaders (5-6) in a Katella tournament consolation game.
Hoover 61, Antioch 47--Eric Jenkins and Mark Hull each scored 13 points for Hoover (6-4) in the Corona del Mar tournament.
Santiago 63, Hueneme 46--Ronney Jenkins scored 12 points in a Century tournament loss for the Vikings (2-6).
MEN
The Master’s 87, Sonoma State 66--James Mosley and Mike Penberthy each scored 19 points for the Mustangs (8-3) in the Chico tournament.
Antelope Valley 83, Moorpark 82--Tim Nunnery scored 36 points and added six steals, but the Raiders (6-10) lost the semifinal game in the Canyons tournament. Jermone Payton led the Marauders (12-5) with 20 points.
Canyons 80, Harbor 77-- Bill Bedgood scored 23 points and had 12 rebounds for the Cougars (6-10) in a semifinal of the Canyons tournament.
Tarron Williams scored 23 points and Curtis England had 17 for the Seahawks.
