Cypress Goes Deep to Defeat El Dorado, 6-3

Cypress, ranked ninth in the county, rallied to defeat El Dorado, 6-3, in an Empire League baseball game Friday at Cypress High.
J.R. Johnson and Nate Endicott hit home runs for Cypress (14-3, 6-1 in league), which trailed, 3-0, after two innings.
Winning pitcher Phil Seibel struck out nine and gave up five hits to improve to 6-0.
El Dorado is 9-9, 4-3.
In other Empire League games:
Katella 2, Kennedy 1--John Baldridge singled with one out and the bases loaded to drive in Cameron Flading with the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh for Katella (14-4, 6-1), ranked sixth in the county.
Loara 9, Century 2--Carlos Ortiz had three hits and pitched five innings, striking out six, to earn his first victory of the season for the Saxons (11-6, 3-4).
In the Century League:
Canyon 11, Villa Park 4--Brandon Smith had a double, home run and three runs batted in for the Comanches (14-3, 6-1), ranked fifth in the county.
Orange 5, Foothill 4--Gehric Ross had three hits and three RBIs, including an RBI single in the sixth to break a 4-4 tie, for visiting Orange (8-8, 3-4).
Santa Ana Valley 14, El Modena 7--Joe Barboza, Cristian Brinseno and Ricky Chavez each had two RBIs for the Falcons (7-10, 2-5).
In the Garden Grove League:
Bolsa Grande 3, Pacifica 1--Dan Hendrix broke a 1-1 tie in the third with a two-run double and Lo Ngo pitched a four-hitter, striking out eight, for Bolsa Grande (9-7-1, 4-1), which handed Pacifica (9-7-1, 4-1) its first league defeat.
Rancho Alamitos 5, Garden Grove 4--Ryan Goldenstein doubled and scored the game-winning run on Tony Serna’s base hit in the seventh for Rancho Alamitos (3-14, 1-4), which scored four unearned runs in the fifth to tie the score.
Santiago 12, Los Amigos 3--Carlos Ramirez hit a three-run home run for Santiago (3-11, 1-3).
In the Golden West League:
Santa Ana 2, Saddleback 1--Jesse Rodarte scored on a bases-loaded single by Daniel Perez in the seventh to win it for Santa Ana (7-10, 3-4). Carlos Esparza pitched his third consecutive complete game for the Saints and has given up one earned run in his last 21 innings.
In pool play at the Chino tournament:
Fullerton 5, Chino 1--Michael Garner (5-1) pitched a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts for Fullerton (11-4-1). Garner has not given up an earned run in the last 35 innings and his earned-run average is 0.29.
In Express League softball:
Heritage Christian 23, Downey Calvary Chapel 12 (5 innings, mercy rule)--Nicole Seabern had two hits, including a triple, for host Heritage Christian (2-3, 2-1), which had seven hits and 21 walks.
In a nonleague game:
Ocean View 8, University 0--Leah Gulla had three hits, including a triple and a home run, three RBIs and scored three times for the Seahawks (9-8).
In nonleague boys’ tennis:
Mission Viejo 11, Santa Ynez 7--Eric Bachelor swept in singles, 6-1, 6-3, 6-1, for Mission Viejo, ranked eighth in the county. Santa Ynez is top-ranked in Southern Section Division IV.
