Big Inning Sparks Cal State Northridge

Cal State Northridge scored six runs in the sixth inning in a 7-4 nonconference baseball victory over Long Beach State Wednesday at Northridge.
Kurt Airoso and Grant Hohman each had two runs batted in for the Matadors (38-10). Winning pitcher Nathan Rice (4-1) gave up one hit, two walks and no runs in five innings.
Long Beach (26-16) closed to within, 7-4, but Northridge’s Gary Stephenson allowed no base runners in the ninth to earn his second save.
Mike Stembridge had two RBIs for Long Beach (26-16, which gave up three unearned runs. Luke Fitzpatrick (2-2) allowed only one run in four innings but took the loss for the 49ers.
In Golden State Athletic Conference men’s tennis:
Southern California College 7, Cal Baptist 0--David Robbins and Ryan Lewis won at singles, then teamed for an 8-0 victory in doubles for SCC (15-2, 5-1).
