** Smokin’ Armadillos, “Smokin’ Armadillos,” Curb. This Bakersfield outfit picked a great name, and distinguishes itself with what may be the first country rap, “I’m a Cowboy.” A couple of narrative ballads show glimpses of originality, but otherwise there’s little freshness among a whole heap of radio-ready, catch-phrase-dominated songs.
