New Sunday Business Newspaper Launched in Britain: With a last-minute backer found, a new British newspaper that promises “All The Business News You Need” was launched. Sunday Business focuses on business news and personal finance, with two broad sheet sections, a magazine called Business and Fortune and two tabloid-size sections, Computer Age and Bloomberg Trading Week. The paper is probably trying to tap into the success of the Financial Times, Britain’s financial daily which publishes six days a week but not on Sunday. However, it enters a crowded Sunday market whose broad sheets--The Sunday Times, The Sunday Telegraph, The Observer, and The Independent on Sunday--all have separate business sections. The paper’s launch remained in question until Friday when it said a new, unidentified backer had been found. The paper lost its printing supplier when it failed to make an agreed deposit to cover newsprint costs. The new paper, which has a staff of 100, printed about 500,000 copies for its first run but is aiming at weekly sales of 200,000.
