PASTOR CHOSEN: The Rev. Dan Clark will become the new minister of First Presbyterian Church of North Hollywood after serving as interim pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Encino for the past two years.

Clark, a 49-year-old Sun Valley resident, has a master of divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary in New York and is married to the Rev. Peggy Clark, senior pastor at Hollywood-Beverly Christian Church in Hollywood. Clark replaces the Rev. John Moody, who served at the church for 11 years before accepting a pastorate in Salem, Ore., last November.

FOLK DANCING: The folk dance ensemble Hayastan will perform at a fund-raiser today for the Southern California Chapter of the International Orthodox Christian Charities. The organization, formed in 1992 on behalf of all Orthodox Christians in North America, helps the sick and hungry in Eastern Europe, Russia and the Middle East. EXHIBIT FINALE: Children’s choirs from three local synagogues will perform at a program called “Witness Our Future: A Program of Art, Music & Hope,” marking the end of a well-attended Holocaust exhibit. More than 5,000 visitors saw the exhibit--titled “Witness & Legacy: Contemporary Art About the Holocaust”--during its three-month stay at the Finegood Art Gallery of the Bernard Milken Jewish Community Campus, 22622 Vanowen St., West Hills. Children from Adat Ari El in North Hollywood, Valley Beth Shalom in Encino and Stephen S. Wise Temple in Los Angeles will sing at 7:15 p.m. Thursday. GENERATION X: A workshop titled “How Churches Can Understand and Minister to Generation X” will be held May 11 at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, 15950 Chatsworth St., Granada Hills. The Rev. Darcy D. GRIEF SEMINAR: “Living Through Life’s Losses,” a free seminar to help those who have recently lost a loved one, will be presented from 7 to 9 tonight at Forest Lawn Memorial Park’s Church of the Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive in the Hollywood Hills. CHOIR WINS: The 17-voice teen choir from the Liberty Temple Church of God in Arleta won first place for small youth choirs in recent statewide Church of God competitions in Fresno. A mime and drama troupe from the Valley church also won first place. Both groups will compete at the Tennessee-based denomination’s national convention in Indianapolis.
