Slumping JetHawks Lose to Stockton

TIMES STAFF WRITER

The JetHawks extended their streak to six Sundays without a victory, losing 10-6 to the Stockton Ports before a Lancaster Municipal Stadium crowd of 5,131.

The JetHawks (19-19), who lost their sixth in a row and 10th out of 11, took a 3-1 lead in the second on Dusty Wathan’s three-run home run, his third.

But in the top of the third, after JetHawk starter Ken Cloude (2-2) had retired the first two Stockton hitters, he hit Scott Krause on a 1-and-2 pitch. The Ports then strung together five hits to score five runs and take a 6-3 lead.

In the sixth, the JetHawks scored two runs to make it 7-5, but they left the bases loaded when cleanup hitter James Clifford lined out. Several close pitches called by umpire Rob Cook during Clifford’s at-bat went against the JetHawks. JetHawk Manager Dave Brundage’s argued the calls and was ejected.
