Van Nuys : VICA Puts on Fair to Increase Involvement
- Share via
The Valley Industry and Commerce Assn. will woo new members and encourage recent members to get involved in the nitty-gritty of VICA activities at the third annual Membership Committee Fair Wednesday in Van Nuys.
Highlighted during the fair will be current topics under consideration by VICA committees, including Valley secession, the city’s business tax structure, support for home-based businesses and workers’ compensation reform.
Committees are the workhorse of the nonprofit, nonpartisan business advocacy group, said Joane Franks, who cochairs the membership committee. The committees study pending legislation, adopt a stance on the issue and report to VICA’s board of directors, which decides whether to support or oppose a given issue.
Since 1949, the organization has served as a voice for the business agenda and economic growth in Southern California. VICA has about 450 corporate members and affiliates, which employ more than 250,000 people in the Valley and surrounding communities.
The fair, which is free and open to current and prospective VICA members, will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Airtel Plaza Hotel, 7277 Valjean Ave., Van Nuys. For information, call VICA at (818) 888-2228.
