. . . As the centerpiece of a regional park, the county agreed to purchase a century-old house built for renowned Shakespearean actress Helena Modjeska.
Born in Poland, the actress and her husband came to the county in the early 1870s and entertained famous actors and actresses at the Modjeska Canyon home in the shadow of Modjeska Peak.
