Won the Orange County Championships title in 12.54, then won the event at the Sea View League finals. Fourth at the Southern Section Division II final.

200 meters, 100-meter hurdles

Mission Viejo, So.

Bethel ran 14.08 in the 100-meter high hurdles to finish second at the state meet, surpassing her county record. Was the county champion in the 200 and 100 hurdles.

400 meters

Esperanza, Sr.

Won the Orange County title for the Aztecs in 57.89. Was eighth in the Southern Section Division I final and won the Sunset League title. Best time was 57.03.

CHRISTA FITZGERALD

800 meters

Dana Hills, So.

Ran the county’s fastest time this spring in 2:15.55 for fifth in the Masters meet. Southern Section Division II runner-up and a state meet participant.

Led the Chargers to the Orange County team title with 78 1/2 points. Also coached her team to an undefeated dual-meet season and Sunset League title.

ALLYSON MARQUAND

1,600, 3,200 meters

University, Fr.

The only first-team freshman, Marquand ran like a veteran. Won the Southern Section Division III 3,200-meter title. Her best time in the 1,600 was 4:57.8 and in the 3,200 10:40.03.

KELLY O’CONNOR

Triple jump

Esperanza, Sr.

Two-time state meet champion, she won the Southern Section Division I and Masters meet. Jumped 40-11 3/4 to win the Sunset League title.

KERRY O’BRIC

Long jump, 300-meter hurdles

Edison, Sr.

The Sunset League champion in both events, O’Bric posted one of the nation’s top long-jump marks of 19-9. Also ran a county-best of 44.76 in the 300 hurdles. Fifth in long jump at state meet.

High jump

Laguna Hills, Jr.

Pacific Coast League and Orange County champion, she finished third at the state meet. Jumped a personal-best 5-10 to win the Trabuco Hills Invitational.

Los Amigos, Sr.

Orange County and Garden Grove League champion, she recorded a 42-0 1/4 effort. Area’s most consistent thrower won the Southern Section Division III title.

CARRIE AXTON

The Southern Section Division III champion, she won the Masters meet with a county-best 150-0 throw. Won the county and Garden Grove League titles as well.

Foothill, Sr.

First-year pole vaulter took the Orange County record to new heights. Won the Southern Section Division II title and had a best of 12-0 3/4 this spring.
