‘Load’ of Success

Metallica, led by singer James Hetfield, dropped a heavy “Load” on its challengers, with the latest album from the heavy-metal masters debuting at No. 1 on both The Times Southern California chart and the national chart. Parrotheads, meanwhile, bought up enough copies of Jimmy Buffett’s “Banana Wind” album to allow it to debut at No. 8 locally and No. 4 nationally. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony’s “Tha Crossroads” sits atop the national and local sales charts.
