JETHAWKS REPORT : Gould Didn’t Get Tripped Up

Clint Gould had his best relief outing with the JetHawks on Friday night, pitching 2 1/3 hitless innings.
Manager Dave Brundage said it’s no coincidence that Gould did well after his second brief promotion to triple-A Tacoma.
“I think there’s something to be said for going to a higher level and measuring up,” Brundage said. “He got a lot of confidence and I’m sure that carries over to A ball.”

When John Thompson switched from No. 44 to 13 to change his luck, he had an 8.30 earned-run average, blowing three of six save opportunities.
Since the change, Thompson has a 1.35 ERA and converted four of five saves.

The JetHawks play Lake Elsinore today at 2:05 p.m. but won’t know their final first-half standing until Rancho Cucamonga’s game at 5 at San Bernardino. Brundage said the JetHawks will not stop in San Bernardino on the way home.
Today’s Game: JetHawks (Marino Santana, 5-6, 4.52) at Lake Elsinore (Brad Pennington, 0-0, 0.00), 2:05.
