1st-Quarter Loss Taken by Quality Systems

TUSTIN — Quality Systems Inc., a developer and provider of computer-based practice management and medical records systems, reported a loss of $7.8 million, or $1.34 a share, for the first fiscal quarter, which included a charge of $8.3 million for the write-off of in-process research and development in connection with the recently completed acquisition of Clinitec International Inc.
That loss contrasts with net income of $537,000, or 11 cents a share, for the like period last year. Revenue for the quarter ended June 30 increased 26% to $4.8 million from $3.8 million.
