Two-time defending national champion Nebraska is the top team in the preseason USA Today/CNN Coaches poll. Nebraska received 47 of a possible 62 first-place votes in a panel of coaches.
The Cornhuskers enter the season with 25 consecutive victories and have won their last 36 regular-season games.
Tennessee is second with 1,398 points and six first-place votes.
Rounding out the top 10: Florida State, Florida, Colorado, USC, Notre Dame, Penn State, Texas and Ohio State.
