Kevorkian’s Sweater Put Up for Auction

Dr. Jack Kevorkian’s trademark powder-blue cardigan sweater, which he has worn at assisted suicides and countless courtroom appearances, has gone on the auction block with a starting bid of $3,000. The polyester sweater was among the signature items at a charity auction being held by Detroit radio station WCSX-FM. “This is the infamous robin’s-egg-blue sweater that you’ve seen walking out of the courtroom,” said George Baier, disc jockey at the classic rock station. Proceeds from the sale will go to the Children’s Leukemia Society of Michigan. Kevorkian has said he has worn the sweater at some suicides but would not identify them, Baier said. Kevorkian has acknowledged attending 34 deaths since starting his crusade for physician-assisted suicide in 1990.
