Coach: Tim Mang (second year).
1995: 21-3, 9-1 in the Sea View League; lost to Santa Barbara, 10-8, in the Southern Section Division I semifinals.
Key returners: Ruchika Budhraja, doubles, So.; Robyn Coleman, doubles, So.; McKenna Glasgow, doubles, Sr; Ashley Harrington, first-team all-league, doubles, Sr.; Marisol Perea, second-team all-league, Sr.; Nina Vaughan, first-team Times’ All-County, MVP Sea View League, No. 1 singles, Jr.
Key newcomers: Caylan Leslie, singles, top five Southern California in girls’ 14, Fr.; Jenny Moyer, doubles, Fr.; Nadia Vaughan, singles, top five Southland in girls’ 14s, Nina’s younger sister, Fr.
Outlook: Mang lost two of his three singles players--Alissa Scott and Megan Wachtler--but he replaces them with Leslie and Nadia Vaughan, maybe the county’s top two freshmen. The threesome of Nina and Nadia Vaughan and Leslie gives the Sea Kings one of the better singles lineups in Division I. The only questions are how Nadia Vaughan and Leslie adjust to playing one-set matches and how deep the Sea Kings are in doubles.
