DALLAS — Trailer homes, long a symbol of the humble lifestyle, got a new look Monday when Neiman Marcus launched its glossy Christmas catalog and showcased a 1960s-style Airstream trailer as its “His and Hers” present for Christmas 1996.
The Airstream, whose classic silver, bullet-shaped exterior hides a luxurious interior, carries a price tag of $195,000.
Neiman Marcus called it the “ultimate in retro-chic.”
Hand-painted murals, antique rugs and brightly colored fabrics created by husband-and-wife design team Richard and Victoria MacKenzie-Childs transform the Airstream into a work of art--and well out of the reach of ordinary Americans.
This year’s Christmas Book collection also includes a $100,000 fountain pen and an upscale dog kennel selling for $9,400.
