A 38-year-old produce vendor was shot in the back and leg Monday evening in a robbery gone awry, Placentia police said.
The man, an Anaheim resident, was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange after the 7:14 p.m. shooting. His injuries are not life-threatening, but police said Tuesday they are withholding his name until family members are notified.
Police responded to calls about a wounded man and found the victim in the 800 block of West La Jolla Street, said Officer Matt Reynolds.
“Officers arrived on the scene and discovered the victim was a produce truck vendor who had been shot during a robbery attempt,” Reynolds said. “It is believed at this time that no money was taken from the victim.”
