Coach: Don Stoll (16th year).
1995: 23-6, 5-0 in the Sea View League; lost in the Southern Section Division I semifinals to Foothill, 6-5.
Key returners: Matt Sakatani, driver, Sr.; Shaun Souza, utility, Sr.; Mark Tilton, two-meter defender, Sr.
Key newcomers: Parker Boone, two-meter defender, Sr.; Drew Breese, goalkeeper, Jr.; Trevor McMunn, driver, Fr.; Derek Soden, driver, Jr.; Brian Sprouse, utility, Sr.; Scott Terpstra, two-meter defender, Sr. Brian Weathersby, utility, Sr.; Warren Weed, utility, Sr.
Outlook: The Chargers lost 10 to graduation, including goalkeeper Greg Stoll, a three-year starter, but expect them to remain strong. Their top three scorers, Souza (70 goals), Tilton (62) and Sakatani (42), are back. They will be bolstered by players from a junior varsity that went 23-0 and won the Valencia varsity tournament, knocking off two teams that eventually made the playoffs. Breese is inexperienced in goal, but he has strong defenders in front of him, and Stoll is bullish about the Chargers’ chances. “I think after Foothill, we can beat any one of them,” he said. “Foothill we can beat maybe one out of 10 times.”
