Ferreira Gets Contract Extended

General Manager Jack Ferreira, whose acquisition of Teemu Selanne last season sparked the Ducks to a strong finish that ended one point shy of the playoffs, has signed a three-year contract extension through the 1998-99 season, he said.
Ferreira, 52, has been the Ducks’ general manager since the team’s inception and made Paul Kariya the first draft choice in team history, selecting him fourth overall in 1993.

The unusual contract saga of center J.F. Jomphe ended after he agreed to a one-year contract that will pay him $250,000 if he makes the NHL team or $60,000 in the minors. Jomphe will arrive in Southern California today.
Jomphe, 23, has only 31 games of NHL experience but was seeking a better contract when the team told him he could not report to camp unsigned.
