Gary McGuire, a New York community college administrator, has been hired as provost of the North Orange County Community College District’s Adult Continuing Education.
He will oversee a program that includes classes in basic skills such as English, mathematics, foreign languages, fine arts and business education, as well as special programs for senior citizens, children and the disabled.
The provost is in charge of 19 full-time and 327 part-time employees.
McGuire also will supervise the three continuing education centers in Yorba Linda, Fullerton and Cypress, which offer classes in more than 100 locations across northern Orange County. About 30,000 students are enrolled in the district’s adult education classes.
McGuire was formerly the assistant vice president for work force development and continuing education at Monroe Community College in Rochester, N.Y. He succeeds August Huesca, who retired last year.
