NEWPORT BEACH — American Vanguard Corp.’s board authorized the repurchase of up to 75,000 shares of common stock from time to time in the open market. The holding company, which has units involved in the chemical business, said it will hold the repurchased shares for use in its stock option plan and for general corporate purposes.
American Vanguard said it has repurchased 42,350 shares under a September 1995 repurchase authorization. A company spokesman said American Vanguard had 2.5 million shares outstanding on June 30.
