Mono Lake Camp

I would like to thank Los Angeles Department of Water and Power officials for their help in providing a unique experience for nearly 200 Los Angeles area youth. For the third year the city of Los Angeles has provided facilities at the Cain Ranch at Mono Lake for young people to camp. These young people participate in the Mono Lake Committee’s Outdoor Experience Program, an outdoor education program that stresses watershed education. Most of these youth are involved in water conservation programs in Los Angeles, reside in inner-city locations and never have the opportunity to travel to experience Mono Lake and the Sierra Nevada.
By providing an ideal location from which to camp, hike and canoe, the DWP helps kids see how conservation work in Los Angeles benefits their watershed in the Eastern Sierra.
