Smoking-Disease Link Right There on the Pack

You must think there is a major breakthrough, or smoking gun, when you put an article at the top of the Business section (“BAT Exec Urged Firm to Admit Smoking-Disease Link,” Oct. 8) about the discovery of a 1980 internal letter of the British American Tobacco Co. admitting there might be a link between tobacco and disease.
So what’s new? I invite you to look at any one of the millions of packs of cigarettes sold every day that display the warning that cigarettes might be hazardous to your health. This is an admission they have been promulgating for years.
