Richeson Surfaces for Royal in Overtime, 12-9

Chris Richeson scored five goals, including the decisive one, and Joe Andelin had four assists as Royal High defeated Marina, 12-9, in overtime in a nonleague water polo match Saturday at Rancho Simi Community Pool.
Jason Perry and David Radka added two goals each and Nate Ball, Tony Johnston and Petr Lavikov scored once for Royal (14-5), the defending Southern Section Division IV champion.
GIRLS’ CROSS-COUNTRY
Golden League tri-meet--Quartz Hill’s Danielle Day set a course record of 19 minutes 38 seconds at Rattlesnake Hill, breaking Theresa Sanatan’s mark of 21:15 set in 1991.
Quartz Hill defeated Lancaster, 17-44, but lost to Highland, 25-30.
Highland, which also beat Lancaster, 15-47, clinched its first league title behind Andrea Neipp, who finished second in 19:54.
