Election Rules

“Squeeze on Media Coverage May Be Bad News for Dole” (Oct. 3) is so right, as far as it goes, except it doesn’t go far enough. Isn’t there also an attempt to bend the Federal Election Commission rules to circumvent the contributions declaration law? Have there ever before been as many televised Rose Garden signings, even a signing, with portable desk and chair, atop a mesa? It would seem that the free television time given to Bill Clinton qualifies as an illegal, undeclared campaign contribution.
