It Was a Long Time Ago in Westwood Far Away

How can you liken Lew Alcindor not talking to reporters with Coach Harrick [Morning Briefing, Oct. 16]? Alcindor’s parents entrusted him to John Wooden so he would be able to lead a reasonably normal life as an obvious future superstar in an enormous public university without being hounded by the media.
Wooden did a great job honoring that trust. It is ludicrous to compare that situation with Dalis’ muzzling of a grown man, part of whose job it is to communicate with the press.
