Chris Acland; Drummer for British Pop Band Lush

Chris Acland, 30, a drummer for the British pop band Lush. Acland learned to play the drums in the music department of the private Lake School. In 1980, when all three were only 14, Acland joined vocalists and self-taught guitarists Miki Berenyi and Emma Anderson to form Lush. After building a reputation playing small clubs in London, they made a series of singles and albums for the 4AD record label in England that established them on the British alternative rock charts. In the United States, Reprise Records produced their albums “Gala” in 1990, “Spooky” in 1992 and “Split” in 1994. The group had recently released a single titled “Ciao” from its “Lovelife” album. On Oct. 17 in London of an apparent suicide.
