California Amplifier in Camarillo has received a $3-million order from Heartland Wireless Communication for its MultiCipher Plus scrambling system.
Heartland operates 45 wireless cable television systems in the United States with more than 200,000 subscribers. This order represents product requirements for 11 of Heartland’s wireless cable systems in the southwestern and Midwestern United States.
Ira Coron, chairman and CEO of California Amplifier, said most of the order should be completed during the current fiscal year. There also is a possibility of follow-up orders, he said.
California Amplifier designs and manufactures products for the reception of microwave signals used primarily in conjunction with multichannel television. MultiCipher is a broadband scrambling technology used for encoding and decoding multichannel television signals.
