KUWAIT CITY — The U.S. Embassy and companies in Kuwait took new security precautions Monday after reported threats against American interests.
The embassy postponed a ceremony to commemorate U.S. service personnel who died in the 1991 Persian Gulf War. But many Americans said there was no sense of being on alert among members of the U.S. community. About 7,000 U.S. citizens live here, including about 4,500 members of the military.
The embassy warned American citizens to exercise particular caution over the next few days in light of the reported threats. It did not elaborate on the threats.
