It was probably inevitable that this Vermont quartet would record an aquatic-themed suite about swimming, floating and drifting away. But, typical of the band’s sub-Deadhead aesthetic, the too-mannered, too-clever music of the sequence that makes up the second half of the album--concluding with an ode to C.S. Lewis’ “Prince Caspian”--rarely conveys the implied sense of freedom, and the lyrics fail to illuminate the implied spirituality.
