Grads Back as Pros to Raise Cash for Piano

Performing artists from across the nation who are alumni of John F. Kennedy High School will return to their alma mater Saturday for a benefit performance.
The school’s choir department is sponsoring the show, titled “Celebrate Alumni,” to help raise $11,000 to buy a piano. The choir has to return a borrowed instrument to Walker Junior High, which has reinstated its choir program after a two-year break.
Musical director Ron Hoshi has recruited graduates of the past 12 years for the one-night performance. Roxanne Taga, currently starring in the Broadway musical “Miss Saigon,” is one of those participating, he said.
“Even though we are a small school, we have a lot of alumni who are doing things professionally,” Hoshi said. “It’s pretty amazing to think all of this talent came from one high school.”
Tickets are $6 before the event and $7 at the door. Information: (714) 220-3032.
