Wrestlers Testify Du Pont Snorted Cocaine

MEDIA, Pa. — Multimillionaire John E. du Pont was seen snorting cocaine at least once and often emerged from his vaulted library with white powder under his runny nose, several wrestlers testified Friday at his murder trial.
It was the first time since Du Pont shot wrestler David Schultz that anyone has claimed Du Pont used drugs. Prosecutors claim that Du Pont’s delusions in the years before Schultz’s shooting were caused by drugs, not mental illness.
Defense psychiatric experts claim Du Pont had paranoid schizophrenia.
Wrestler Rob Calabrese testified he saw Du Pont and Schultz’s brother, Mark, snort cocaine in the summer of 1988. Three other wrestlers testified they saw Du Pont with powder under his nose.
