UCI Beats North Texas for Matsuhara’s 100th Victory

Leticia Oseguera had 20 points and seven rebounds to help UC Irvine Coach Colleen Matsuhara record her 100th victory, a 64-47 win over North Texas in a Big West Conference women’s basketball game Friday in Denton, Texas.
Matsuhara is 54-105 in six seasons at Irvine and 100-149 including three seasons at Nebraska.
Irvine is 11-9, 6-3 in conference and North Texas is 3-17, 0-8.
In other Big West Conference women’s basketball games:
Cal State Fullerton 91, New Mexico State 79--Kristen Sigg scored 21 points and Andrea Thieme added 20 points for Fullerton (7-12, 2-6). Dee Braxton and Jackie Bucher each scored 16 points for the Titans.
New Mexico State is 7-13, 4-4.
Nevada 70, Long Beach State 55--Adara Newidouski scored 18 points for Long Beach (10-10, 5-3), which shot 30% from the field.
In nonconference games:
Chapman 112, Whittier 50--Melissa Lopez had 22 points and five steals and Michelle McMillen scored 17 points and made five of six from three-point range for Chapman (16-5).
In Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s volleyball:
Long Beach State 3, Pacific 1--Gaby Amar had 15 kills and 10 blocks for host Long Beach (7-1, 2-1), which won, 9-15, 15-10, 15-3, 15-5. Greg Wakeham had 20 kills for Pacific (5-1, 2-1).
