Floyd W. McIntosh of Ventura, a retired salesman for Sears Roebuck & Co., died Thursday in a local hospital after a brief illness. He was 88.
McIntosh was born May 18, 1908, in Swiss, N.C., and was a 40-year resident of Ventura County.
A longtime employee of Sears, McIntosh transferred from Bakersfield to the Ventura store when it opened in 1948. Family members said “Mac,” as he was known to contractors throughout the county, was proud to sell the Craftsman line of tools at the new store--which at the time was the largest Sears store between Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Before his retirement, McIntosh helped set up the Esplanade Mall branch of Sears in Oxnard.
McIntosh is survived by his son, John McIntosh of Ventura; a brother, Sherman McIntosh of Palm Desert; a sister, Florence Brock of Chico; and two grandsons.
Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jim Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ted Mayr Funeral Home.
