Semiconductor Industry Assn. Chief Quits

The Semiconductor Industry Assn. said its president, Thomas Armstrong, has resigned. San Jose-based SIA, a computer chip industry trade group, gave no reason for Armstrong’s departure. Armstrong, 56, had been with the SIA since 1983 and was named president in September 1995. He will be replaced temporarily by Daryl Hatano while a search for a permanent replacement is conducted. Hatano is the organization’s vice president of international trade and government affairs.
