Laker update--If there are any potential problems in the current stretch of a favorable schedule, this is it. The 22-point loss to the Clippers on Feb. 4 at the Pond of Anaheim remains the Lakers’ second-worst defeat of the season, with only the Utah Jazz on Dec. 4 having inflicted a more severe beating. The Lakers not only get the opportunity tonight to avenge that, but to earn a three-game winning streak for the first time in a month.
Clipper update--Rodney Rogers had 24 points and 14 rebounds as the Clippers defeated the Lakers, 108-86, in their last meeting on Feb. 4 at Anaheim. Rogers, who had a team-high 26 points in Tuesday night’s four-point loss at Portland, averaged 9.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in his first nine games as a reserve. Clipper center Lorenzen Wright, who was poked in the left eye by Trail Blazer swingman Stacey Augmon as they battled for a rebound in the closing moments of Tuesday’s game, wore goggles at the start of Thursday night’s game against the Suns, but scrapped them midway through the first quarter.
