Hart Rallies to Beat Camarillo in 9th

Hart High scored three runs in the ninth inning to beat Camarillo, 8-5, in the semifinals of the Westside baseball tournament Thursday at Camarillo.
Kevin Bell hit a two-run triple and Eric Horvat followed with a double to account for the Indians’ runs in the ninth. Jeremy Shields (1-0) shut out Camarillo (3-1) on two hits in the last four innings to earn the victory.
Hart (3-1) tied the score, 5-5, in the fifth on a home run by Horvat, who had two hits and is 10 for 15.
In other Westside tournament games:
Newbury Park 8, Hawthorne 2--Ryan Ayers hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning for the Panthers (4-0) to blow open a semifinal game at Hawthorne.
Buena 10, Moorpark 5--David Arroyo had a home run and a triple and pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts for the Bulldogs (3-1) at Moorpark.
Taft 13, Crossroads 7--Yaron Peters homered in his third consecutive game and finished with five runs batted in for the Toreadors (3-1) at Taft.
In the San Fernando tournament:
Kennedy 6, Westlake 5--Adrian Perez’s singled in David Hernandez with two out in the eighth inning to lift the Golden Cougars (2-2) at Kennedy.
Kennedy’s Jeff Nadeau tied the score, 5-5, with a two-out, two-run single in the sixth. Jon Garland had three hits for Kennedy.
Thousand Oaks 4, Cleveland 2--Sophomore Jesse Siebers hit a two-run single with two out in the fourth inning for the Lancers (1-2) at Thousand Oaks. Siebers also played well at third base, making eight assists.
Brian Forkin doubled and singled for Thousand Oaks and Chris Vasquez had two hits for Cleveland (2-2). Aaron Boynton (1-0) scattered seven hits for the Lancers, walking one.
North Hollywood 13, Malibu 3--Cesar Soto had two doubles, scored two runs and had two RBIs for the Huskies (4-0) at North Hollywood.
Chaminade 6, Birmingham 3--Bruce Greenwood (2-0) pitched a four-hitter with seven strikeouts and two walks for the Eagles (4-0) at Birmingham.
Chris Martinez had two triples and an RBI for Chaminade.
Calabasas 17, Grant 2--Brian Fatur hit two home runs and two doubles to lead the Coyotes (4-1) at Grant.
Granada Hills 10, Highland 9--The Highlanders (2-2) scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull out a darkness-shortened game at Granada Hills.
Josh Hamilton singled in Dan Frisbee with the tying run and Chris Meichtry scored the winning run on an error.
In the El Segundo tournament:
Burroughs 11, Simi Valley 8--Wes Hutchison had three RBIs and three hits, including a home run, for the Indians (2-2) at Simi Valley.
Agoura 5, Cerritos 2--Brian Jacobsen had two hits and two RBIs and Chris Poling had three hits for the Chargers (3-1) at Agoura.
Kevin Cruz pitched 4 1/3 innings and did not allow a hit. He left the game after allowing three consecutive walks.
Crespi 4, Mira Costa 0--Brian Felten pitched a three-hitter with nine strikeouts and one walk for the Celts (3-1) at Mira Costa.
Royal 7, Long Beach Poly 6--Brett Wayne singled in Mike Ranier with one out in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Highlanders (2-2) at Royal.
SOFTBALL
Thousand Oaks 9, Alemany 0--Erika Hanson had three hits and three RBIs and Colleen Spencer had three hits and two RBIs for the Lancers (3-0) in a nonleague game at Alemany.
Canoga Park 13, Cleveland 10--Janette Jeknavorian had two hits and two RBIs for the Hunters (2-1) in a nonconference game at Canoga Park.
Chatsworth 29, University 1--Sharleen Rubin had five hits, including two home runs, and had 11 RBIs for the Chancellors (3-0) in a nonconference game at University.
