Four Area Players Selected All-City

Vanessa Dunn of Kennedy High, Tashean Thomas of North Hollywood, Monie Simmons of Poly and Jessica Cosby of Granada Hills were among 23 players named to All-City Section girls’ basketball teams by a panel of coaches.
Dunn, a 5-foot-8 senior forward who averaged 16.8 points, and Thomas, a 5-4 guard who averaged 15 points and 6.5 steals, were named to the 4-A Division team. Crenshaw’s Naila Mosley was named the division’s player of the year.
Kennedy and North Hollywood, the best City teams in the region, were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the playoffs.
The 5-8 Simmons and Cosby were selected to the 3-A Division team. Janice Arcilla of Franklin and Tiffany McCollum of San Pedro were named co-players of the year.
Simmons averaged 13.5 points and 16.2 rebounds. Cosby averaged 18.5 points and 16.1 rebounds.
Second-team 4-A Division honorees included Monia Calhoun of Kennedy, Nakeisha Perkins of Grant and Stephanie Wasserman of North Hollywood.
Stacey Harris of Cleveland was a second-team selection in the 3-A Division.
