Cal State Northridge basketball Coach Bobby Braswell, who was interviewed Friday for the coaching job at Oregon, characterized his three-hour meeting with Athletic Director Bill Moos as “very positive.”
“I thought it went very well,” Braswell said. “[Moos] said he’d be back in touch with me.”
Moos interviewed Oregon assistant Mark Turgeon on Wednesday and St. Mary’s Coach Ernie Kent on Thursday. Moos is expected to make a decision within a week.
Jerry Green resigned as Oregon’s coach Tuesday to take the job at Tennessee.
Boxing
The first in a series of monthly boxing shows in Ventura County has been tentatively rescheduled for May 8 at the Oxnard Elks Lodge.
The program, originally scheduled for April 17 at the Ventura Theater, will feature junior lightweight Eddie Contreras of Oxnard, junior welterweight Carlos Rubio of Lakeside and middleweight Nick Martinez of Bassett.
Oxnard promoter Robert Valdez said he came to terms with management of the Ventura Theater in January but was forced to move the inaugural show because the theater is undergoing renovation.
Girls’ basketball
Seniors Jaclyn Johnson of Bell-Jeff High and Vanessa Dunn of Kennedy will play in the inaugural Homer Smith All-Star basketball game Sunday at the Forum. The game pits players from City Section schools against those from Southern Section schools.
Girls’ volleyball
Kelli Hoover of Fountain Valley Los Amigos High has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at Cal State Northridge. Hoover, a 5-foot-10 setter-outside hitter, was a three-time All-Garden Grove League selection.
