Sweatshops

Re “A Big No to Sweatshops,” editorial, April 16: The pay is 20 cents per hour, not enough to pay for food. You can be required to work up to 60 hours a week. You can be 15 years old. You can get only one day off per week. And, your employer gets to put a “no sweatshop” tag on the product you make. This is insane.
U.S. companies are using Third World people as overseas slaves. We would not stand for this in the U.S., why do we condone such treatment of others? You call these new rules “laudable.” What a joke. You should be ashamed, as all Americans should be ashamed, at the behavior of these U.S. companies. Just as a livable wage should be paid to Americans, a livable wage should be paid to all human beings.
