At least 10 police officers were treated and sent to two hospitals for examination Wednesday night after they were exposed to fumes during a raid on an illicit methamphetamine laboratory in which seven suspects were arrested in Hawthorne, Los Angeles County fire officials said.
The officers began feeling ill shortly after they arrived at the clandestine laboratory in the 4300 block of West 134th Street about 9 p.m., officials said.
The composition of the fumes was not immediately determined.
The officers were undergoing examination at Robert F. Kennedy Medical Center in Hawthorne and the Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance. The extent of their injuries, if any, was not known.
