Evans Named to First Team

Nancy Evans of Arizona was named All-American by the National Softball Coaches Assn. on Wednesday, one of five Wildcats named to the first team.
Catcher Jennifer Parker of Cal State Northridge was named to the second team and Iowa senior catcher Brandi Macias, from Palmdale High, was named to the third team.
Evans, a junior right-hander who has lost only five of 89 decisions, is 32-1 with a 1.08 earned-run average this season. She has 192 strikeouts in 208 innings. Evans attended Hoover High.
Parker, a graduate of Glendora High, helped the Matadors to their sixth consecutive postseason appearance by batting .382 with 34 runs batted in. The senior catcher threw out 19 of 27 runners trying to steal.
Macias is batting .366 with 40 RBIs and has helped the Hawkeyes win the Big Ten Conference championship and reach the College World Series.
Julie DiFatta, a sophomore catcher at Cal Lutheran, was chosen a second-team Division III All-American.
