Pacific Coast League champion University (20-7), which pounded El Toro, 13-0, in a Division I wild-card game Tuesday, gets the first crack at Mater Dei in the Southern Section playoffs Friday at Mater Dei. The Monarchs (22-3), South Coast League champions, are the division’s top-seeded team.

Other key games Friday include El Dorado (22-4), top-seeded in Division II, hosting Villa Park (13-13); Brea Olinda (11-15) at third-seeded Foothill (19-6) in Division III; La Quinta (23-4), seeded No. 2 in Division IV, hosting Big Bear Lake Big Bear (10-13); Chino Hills Boys Republic (10-5) at second-seeded Calvary Chapel (14-10) in Division V; Southern California Christian (6-9) at Bloomington Christian (15-6) in Division VI.
