4 Ventura Youths Held in Stabbing

Four teenage boys from Ventura were being held in Santa Barbara Juvenile Hall on Monday in connection with the stabbing of a Carpinteria man, authorities said.

The stabbing took place at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday at the AM-PM Mini Mart on Casitas Pass Road.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department officials said 22-year-old Billy Jack Irwin challenged the boys to a fight and was subsequently stabbed in his left side. Irwin, who was on parole for an earlier matter at the time of the incident, was treated for a superficial wound at St. Francis Hospital in Santa Barbara and released.
