Dutch Diplomat’s Son Loses Driver’s License

Associated Press

The State Department said it has taken away the driver’s license of a Dutch diplomat’s teenage son for driving while under the influence of alcohol. Spokesman John Dinger said Monday that the action was taken after the Dutch Embassy rejected a State Department request that the youth’s diplomatic immunity be waived.

The youth was among a group of teens police said were found when they responded to a call about a school break-in Thursday in suburban Maryland. They said he told them they were going to paint slogans as a prank. He was turned over to the State Department and Secret Service after he claimed immunity.
