Council to Review Growth Blueprint
At the request of Councilman Steve Bennett, the City Council on Monday will consider whether to amend Ventura’s growth blueprint to require sufficient space in school classrooms before opening the city to further development.
Bennett raised the issue in February after the City Council and the school board pledged to work together to solve Ventura’s school-crowding problems.
But a majority of council members rejected the idea, saying it could jeopardize passage of an $81-million school bond measure.
Now that bond measure has since been approved by voters, Bennett wants to revisit the issue.
The council meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall, 501 Poli St.
