Public to Get Three-Dimensional Preview of Community Center

With ground-breaking for the city’s $22-million Community Center just months away, a public preview of the project will precede tonight’s City Council meeting.

At 5 p.m. in City Hall, residents will be able to see a three-dimensional computer image of the civic complex. Architects and city officials will be on hand to talk about the sports fields, meeting rooms, gymnasium and library that will be built on the 18-acre site at Alicia Parkway and Paseo de Valencia.

“Now is a good time to see it,” City Manager Bruce Channing said. “We’re at a point where the public can see this project taking shape.”

Though the basic design has been approved, many details remain undecided.

City officials hope to start construction in July.
