Ruling Tonight on Secondary Education
The board of the Newport-Mesa Unified School District will decide tonight whether to overhaul its secondary education programs.
The decision comes on the heels of the discovery that the vast majority of the incoming students at Newport Harbor High School read at their grade level.
Supt. Mac Bernd said the board may decide to study ways to change the curriculum.
The board will also consider ways to improve the space at the district’s secondary schools.
Officials will meet with the architect who is designing Newport-Mesa’s new elementary school, which is in unincorporated Newport Coast, between Corona del Mar and Laguna Beach.
The board meets tonight at 7 at the Newport-Mesa Education Center, 2985 Bear St., Costa Mesa. Information: (714) 424-5000.
