Polytechnic School Selects New Director

Sarah Levine was named head of the Polytechnic School in Pasadena, officials have announced.

Levine, currently the head of Belmont Day School outside Boston, will take over July 1, succeeding Alexander B. “Mike” Babcock, who retired after 18 years in the job. She will be the eighth head of the school.

“I look forward to working with the Polytechnic School family and keeping and maintaining its traditions,” Levine said.

Levine, a developmental psychologist, said she brings to Polytechnic a long career of working with schools and a keen interest in child, adolescent and adult development. She is a speaker at national conferences and author of several publications, including Promoting Adult Growth in Schools and A Passion for Teaching.

Levine obtained her bachelor’s degree from Sarah Lawrence College and her master’s degree and doctorate in education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
